This year, American Express is proud to sponsor Watch This Space Festival throughout September for a celebration of the best in film and entertainment.
On Thursday 22 September, winners will enjoy a complimentary mezze platter at the theatre's Terrace Bar and Food, before gathering at the American Express Preferred Seating Balcony to watch a unique programme of short British films from the BFI National Archive.
Projected outdoors on the National Theatre Flytower, which soars above the Thames, the audience will enjoy an insight into a bygone era in the capital’s history as they watch a series of short films about ‘Fifties London’; enjoy a peek into a seamy world of jazz nightlife and live through an energetic day at the old Covent Garden fruit and veg market. Guests will also be treated to a complimentary mini bottle of champagne during the screenings.
On Sat 24 Sep from 8.30pm, , winners will enjoy a complimentary mezze platter at the theatre's Terrace Bar and Food, before gathering at the American Express Preferred Seating Balcony to watch a unique programme of short British films from the BFI National Archive.
Again, projected outdoors on the National Theatre Flytower, which soars above the Thames, the audience will enjoy an insight into London life from a bygone age; evocative films show a lost London from 1896-1945; see Victorians travelling to work, traffic chaos engulfing Edwardian streets, and the smoky London Underground in the 1930s. Guests will also be treated to a complimentary mini bottle of champagne during the screenings.
Understanding the power of film to entertain, inspire and create lasting memories, American Express is asking people to share their own film themed inspirations, whether it’s a memorable movie, a director, an actor, or a famous scene, in support of the ‘Amex Be Inspired’ campaign.
For each inspiration shared American Express will give 50p to youth charity The Prince’s Trust to fund grassroots projects across the UK including a series of inspirational workshops that aid the personal development of vulnerable young people.
